The idea
The best nights in a city are the unplanned ones. The streets stay lit, you take a turn you wouldn’t normally take, and you stumble from a giant sculpture to a projection on a wall to music coming out of a doorway. What stays with you is what you didn’t plan to see.
Online work almost never gets that. It gets a grid of thumbnails and a feed that moves on in two seconds. Tokyo After Dark puts online work back in a place: a night city where your piece hangs on a wall, glows over an alley, stands in a square or plays from a doorway, and people find it by walking.
There is no route and no ranking. The map shows only the streets. Visitors open your work, read your story in your words, and go straight to your artist profile, linked to your CollaboTokyo account, so a chance encounter can turn into a follow, a commission or a collaboration.
What you can show
Hung on glowing hoardings, pasted up as posters, printed on lanterns and banners over the street, or blown up on the promenade walls.
JPG, PNG or WebP — illustration, photo, poster, design
Looping on screens in Kinetic Passage, projected on the ground, or playing on the giant walls of Tower Promenade.
MP4 or WebM, a short loop works best
Your GLB on a lit plinth in Hikari Square or Polygon Garden. Visitors can open it and turn it around.
GLB (binary glTF), under 12 MB
Plays from where it stands in Oto Yokocho. It gets louder as people walk up and pans as they pass.
MP3, M4A, OGG or WAV — plays as you walk past
A glowing browser window in Pixel Yokocho, hung like a shop sign. One click and visitors are on your site.
A link, plus a screenshot to hang in the alley
The spaces
Each part of the city is shaped for a kind of work. We place yours where it fits, and the back streets get a bit of everything.

How it works
Send work with just your email, or from your CollaboTokyo account. Your works and artist page belong to it, and we email you at every step.
Upload the work, write a line and its story, and tell visitors who you are. Send as many works as you like.
Once your work is approved, walk into the city before it opens and put it on any open spot: a wall in Ink Lane, a plinth in the square, a screen on the promenade. Move it any time, or let us place it.
From Nov 11, visitors wander in, find your work, open your story and visit your profile.
