The opportunity

Starting a business is lonely, and most networking events are forgettable. In CollaboTokyo, Shinjuku is the business district: Nishi-Shinjuku’s towers, legal and accounting help by the civic tower, and the small shops of Golden Gai.

A founder can build the room early-stage entrepreneurs wish they had: the same people every week, honest advice, introductions that turn into customers, partners and hires.

Ideas to try

Examples to get you thinking — not a checklist.

  • Startup pitch nights

Founders pitch, peers and guests ask the hard questions.

  • Founder circles

Small groups that meet weekly to set goals and keep each other honest.

  • Structured networking

Everyone arrives with one ask and one offer.

  • Expert office hours

Lawyers, accountants and operators answer questions in short slots.

  • Customer discovery swaps

Founders interview each other as potential customers.

  • Launch-day support squads

The community rallies around a member’s launch.

Make it your own

The themes for Shinjuku are a starting point, not a restriction. If your community crosses into other topics, follow it.

You decide the formats, the schedule and the culture. Try things, drop what doesn’t work, and double down on what does.

Your district. Your community. Your vision.

The fine print, up front

  • This is an independent, revenue-share-based opportunity — not a salaried position or employment.
  • Revenue is not guaranteed. What a district earns depends on many things, including the community you build.
  • Shares are calculated on eligible net platform revenue, as defined in your individual agreement.
  • Leading a district doesn’t mean owning it: there is no permanent district ownership or perpetual revenue right. Terms are set in your agreement, starting with a 90-day pilot.

Who would be a great fit?

  • A founder or operator who already hosts meetups or founder dinners
  • A startup community organizer from an accelerator, coworking space or university
  • A consultant or freelancer whose business runs on introductions
  • Someone who writes a newsletter for entrepreneurs
